“The test of a good coach is that when they leave, others will carry on successfully.”

The Football Federation Australia (FFA) National Football Curriculum has set the road map to coaching excellence in Australia. One of the major benefits of the Curriculum and its philosophy is that we now have clarity on the way forward as Club Coaches. Many have realised that football isn’t ‘just football’; there are styles and brands of football but we now know how we want to play. We can now talk about ‘our football’, which can be defined and visualized, and not settle for ‘any football’. We are now able to say ‘any old football isn’t good enough’.

At St Pats FC we continue to build on years of development coaching using the FFA National Curriculum throughout our junior teams with a philosophy of fun, fitness and competitiveness. This then transforms into positive, dynamic football (usually around the age of 16 years) where each year we strive for ultimate success in all Division teams.

At St Pats FC players learn by ‘doing’ and the coach guides and facilitates this learning process. Coaches learn when to stop the players, how long for and how often. Coaches learn what to say and how to say it in order to achieve the best possible outcomes. As a coach at St Pats FC it is recognised that resources, communication and mentoring is a key part to everyone succeeding as a coach. Whether you strive to win your first League Championship, or encourage kids each weekend to take the field and have some fun, at St Pats FC we have dedicated members and coaches available each week to lend a hand.

Below you will find links to resources across a number of external providers that give you great access to further knowledge and learnings as a coach.
